Summary: On the deck of an Emigrant Ship

Key dates:

This picture shows the deck of an emigrant ship. Only the wealthier emigrants who could afford a better ticket were allowed on deck. Poorer people often had to stay below deck for the whole voyage which could take up to 3 months.
