Summary: The Saw Mill

Key dates:

This photograph shows a saw-mill in Kilrea in 1905. The timber was brought to the town by both river and rail transport. Once the trees were dry enough they were cut into large sections. This was one of the first saw mills to use electric power. The sawdust was bagged and collected by local butchers.
