Summary: St. Malachy’s College

Key dates:

The rising Catholic population in Belfast during the 19th century created a need for a new boys’ school which would cater for the sons of Belfast’s middle class Catholic families, many of whom lived in the Antrim Road area. St. Malachy’s college opened in the 1860s and quickly established a good reputation.
