Key dates:

There were a number of very well known schools in Ulster’s provincial towns. One of the best was Portora Royal School in Enniskillen. Opened in the early 17th century Portora had a long and distinguished history. In this period it was attended by the famous Oscar Wilde. Many of its pupils were boarders who came from all over Ireland.
