Summary: Ulster Bank, Waring Street, Belfast

Key dates:

Belfast’s growing importance as an industrial centre acted as a magnet for banking firms. The Ulster Bank was established in 1825 and its profits grew quickly through its association with commercial activity in the city. To reflect this financial strength the bank built impressive premises close to the city centre in Waring Street.
