These people could build and sail boats and were involved in some form of international trade. The wheel was not yet discovered but they could move heavy items by placing them on top of tree trunks which were rolled along.
There is evidence that these people travelled widely in the British Isles as examples of porcellanite, common in Co Antrim, have been found all over the country. Some rare examples of imports such as Arran pitchstone have turned up in three coastal sites in Co Antrim. Stone axes from Cumbria and South West Wales, as well as flint axes and adze of Scandinavian type have been found in Ireland.
