Summary: Shrove Tuesday

Key dates:

Shrove Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent, was an important festival. Big meals were eaten before the period of fasting began, and pancakes were a traditional dish. They were baked on the griddle just like soda farls.
