Summary: Irish Cabin

Key dates:

The poorest group in Irish society was the cottier class. They worked as labourers and for very little pay. Many of them lived in mud huts built in against a ditch and with thatched roofs. These houses rarely had chimneys or windows and were just single room dwellings.
