Summary: Drinking Habits

Key dates:

The Irish drank much home brewed beer. There is no reference to whiskey until 1405 but it seems to have been common in the 15th century. The Irish flavoured it with nutmeg, cinnamon and other spices. Wine was imported by the upper classes. There was a good wine trade between the Irish south coast and Germany.
