Key dates:

The methods and improvements which were introduced in the 18th century continued to be used for a very long time afterwards. Seeds were sown using the broadcasting method as in the picture. Ploughs were drawn by oxen or horses. Some improving landlords sought guidance from the Dublin Society which had a library on agriculture and employed English instructors to give advice on farming.
