Summary: Jobs

Key dates:

The jobs which were common in rural areas were related to the needs of the agricultural community. Smiths, carpenters, nailmakers, thatchers and masons were all able to supplement the earnings they had from their farms. The smith was particularly important. Many others were involved in the domestic linen industry.
