Summary: Threshing Corn

Key dates:

The tradition of threshing corn by beating the heads on stones was popular in certain parts of Ireland. Once the grain was removed it was collected and stored by the farmers, while the straw could have been kept for thatching or rope-making. These men live on the Aran Islands.
