Summary: Emigrant Letter

Key dates:

Many of those who emigrated from Ulster in the second half of the 18th century had a powerful religious faith. Presbyterians like Thomas Wright in this letter to his family state their belief that God had helped them to prosper – “providence smiles on me in all my undertakings”.
