Summary: Pancake Day

Key dates:

Shrove Tuesday, or Pancake Day, was an important occasion in many rural houses. It was a general feast day (with pancakes made at home) when people ate their last big meal before fasting during Lent. Shrove Tuesday was also the most popular day of the year for weddings.
