Summary: Diet in Belfast Workhouse

Key dates:

Below is the Belfast Workhouse diet. Breakfast – 6 ozs oatmeal and 2/3 pint of buttermilk. Dinner – 2lbs potatoes and 2/3 pint of buttermilk or 1.5 pints soup at weekends. Supper – 4 ozs oatmeal and 2/3 pint of buttermilk. As you can see the diet was barely enough for adults and it was terribly monotonous.
