Summary: Malcolmson Cotton Mill

Key dates:

The cotton industry became firmly established in different parts of Ireland in the late 18th century. This impressive mill was set up by the Malcomsons at Portlaw, Co. Waterford in 1825. It became the most important cotton mill in Ireland but was forced to close in the 1870s.
