Summary: Turnly’s Tower, Cushendall

Key dates:

Turnly’s Tower is still a well known landmark in Cushendall, Co. Antrim. It was built in 1817 from red sandstone which was quarried locally. The tower was used to confine “idlers and rioters” who had been sentenced by the local magistrate.
