Summary: Knife and Spoon Box

Key dates:

Dressers only became popular in rural houses in the late 18th century, but many poor people had only a simple ‘ware rack’. Usually nailed to this rack was a knife and spoon box that held the wooden utensils. Similar boxes were used to hold other items such as salt.
