Summary: Inside a Linen Mill

Key dates:

The linen yarn produced by mechanical power was much cheaper than the finger spun thread done in cottages all over Ireland. It was also much better in quality. Women worked in the new spinning mills. They were known as daffers and their job was to replace the bobbins on the spindles. This was very unhealthy work.
