Summary: Clogher Valley Railway
Key dates:
The last quarter of the 19th century saw major developments in rail transport. A number of branch lines were opened to provide a transport service for the inhabitants of smaller towns and villages and to move bulky materials such as coal and timber. Cattle were also transported in special carriages. The photograph taken in 1900 shows one of the trains which operated in the Clogher Valley running through the Main Street in Augher.
