Summary: Donegal Tweed

Key dates:

Tweeds were popular with most people. This photograph taken about 1904 shows a well-dressed couple posing for the photographer. He is wearing a single-breasted morning coat with a double-breasted spotted waistcoat and striped trousers. The starched collar of his shirt was highly fashionable in this period. The lady is dressed in a tweed gown and her skirt is trimmed with machine lace.
