The great Georgian mansions of the 18th century had contrasting styles of design. The exteriors tended to have simple, plain lines. Interiors however were very ornate. Some wealthy people could afford the services of the famous Italian stuccodores, the Francini brothers. The interior of Carton House has some excellent examples of their work as does Riverstown house.
