Summary: Romanesque Style Architecture

Key dates:

During the Early Christian period Ireland became known as a centre of designing activity. Most of this work would have been on church buildings and did not survive as these were built with wood. One of the best examples of such designs is a crucifixion scene carved on the door lintels at Maghera and Raphoe.
