Shoes, like clothes, indicated a person’s position in society. The wealthier members wore fine shoes made from one piece of leather, decorated with interlacing or ornate seams. For others, shoes were made from robust rawhide, scored to allow flexibility. Pieces of leather found at Deer Park Farms in Co Antrim also indicate similar footwear.
