Summary: Eel Supper

Key dates:

Today eels are regarded as a delicacy but 100 years ago they were commonly eaten by rural people living close to Lough Neagh and along the Lower Bann. Eels were most plentiful in late autumn and eel suppers were very similar to harvest home evenings, as a plentiful supply of food was celebrated.
